The aircarft on the left indicate the path taken by a bomber experiencing no cross wind. A cross wind will blow the aircraft and bomb off course. The bombsite is calibrated until the aircraft is flying at an angle to the flight path to counter the cross wind, and following a parallel track to the target. The distance to the side of the flight path is called "cross trail."
