HQ 486th BOMB GROUP (H)
A.P.O 559 |
8 August 1944
|
| SUBJECT: |
Results of Bombing of St. Sylvian, France, on 8 August 1944. |
| TO : |
Commanding Officer, 486th Bombardment Group (H). |
1. "A" Group dropped a fairly loose pattern, measuring approximately 1400' x 2000', just back of the bomb release line, 15,000 feet short and 9000 feet left of the target. The circular error
is approximately 17,000 feet. Most of the bombs fell in open fields and although the scale is too small to allow a definite scatement (?), there does not appear to be much activity in that
area.
2. "B" Group dropped on the target at about the same time as the 13th Wing, it is impossible to identify their bombs, however they form a part of the pattern which rather adequately covers
the target area. It is impossible to plot these bombs.
