My parents were Stanley and Ivy Beevis and they lived in the village of Long Melford which is about 3 miles away from where your Dad was based at Acton/Waldingfield airfield. Carl Woodard and his friend Windy (can't remember his first name) became friends with my Father who cooked for your guys. Woody and Windy used to cycle to Long Melford to have a drink with my Dad in the 'pub' called The White Hart which was next door to where we lived (very handy). They would all come to our house afterwards and Mum would give them supper and they would bring me all sorts of treats like chocolate, chewing gum etc. At this time I was 10/11yrs old I am 70 now but still remember those times like it was yesterday. One day they took me to the airfield and I spent the day with them, they took me on the flying fortresses and anything else that a boy of 10 would enjoy on an airfield I enjoyed.
