| On 09 March 1945 the 8th Air Force launched an
attack on a variety of targets in Kassel, Osnabruck, Munster and
Frankfurt. The 3rd Air Division comprised Force I and was assigned
marshalling yards in Frankfurt. The river in the recon photo is the
Main. Harbor facilities are visible at the right. The white line in
the upper left hand corner indicates the axis of attack for the
"D" squadron of the 486th Bomb Group. The notation reads
"486 'D' TH [true heading] 142° GS [ground speed] 264
