This photo was taken after their return from the March 30th Mission to Hamburg.  The man kneeling second from left has been identified as Marvin Lutes who does not appear in the loading list for this day.  (National Archives)

Flight Officer Willis Smith began as the copilot with the Eckenroth crew.  Became a lead pilot when Eckenroth was promoted and became an air commander.  Lieutenant Ray Smith began as the copilot with the Benedetto crew.  Walter Wannos began as the bombardier with the Fusco crew.  Gunners from the pool filled in as needed.
