SECRET 1 August 1944.
SUBJECT: Results of Bombing on A/P at Tours, France on 1 August 1944.
TO: Commanding Officer, 486th Bombardment Group (H).
486 A dropped a pattern measuring approximately 2200 feet in diameter, the center of which is approximately 1300 feet short of the assigned MPI. The assigned MPI was possibly damaged by two or three near hits. 4% of the identifiable bombs fell within a 500 foot circle and 44% within a 2000 foot circle, and 14% within a 1000 foot circle.
486 B dropped a compact pattern measuring approximately 1200 x 2000 feet. The center of which is approximately 700 feet right of the assigned MPI with no range error, with the exception of about 12 strays which fell approximately 3500 feet short. 11% of the identifiable bombs fell within a 500 foot circle.
The three hangars of this group, which have already been severely damaged, have suffered near hits and probable hits, which quite probably added to the damage.
