LST-325 rests at her berth. The berth is a floating pier. The pier is tied to two huge cement pylons, one of which if visible to the right of the ship. The pier rises and falls with the floodwaters. The LST is an amphibious ship used for delivering troops, equipment and supplies directly to the beachheads. Sailors refor to the Amphibious Navy as the "Gator Navy". Such ships are often referred to as "Gator Freighters". |
